WAWI’s Fistula Charity Walks

WAWI’s Fistula Charity Walks in Kampala City are an opportunity to come together as a community to raise awareness and funds for the prevention and treatment of obstetric fistula.

Obstetric fistula is a devastating childbirth injury that affects millions of women in developing countries. It occurs when prolonged, obstructed labor causes a hole to form between the bladder and vagina or the rectum and vagina, leading to incontinence, infection, and social isolation.

WAWI (Women at Women International) is a non-profit organization that works to prevent and treat obstetric fistula in Uganda and other countries in East Africa. Their mission is to empower women and girls by providing them with the tools they need to live healthy, productive lives.

The Fistula Charity Walks in Kampala City will take place on May 5th, starting at 8 am. Participants can choose to walk 3 km, 5 km, or 10 km, depending on their fitness level and personal preference. The walk will begin at the Uganda Museum and will wind through the streets of Kampala, passing by some of the city’s most iconic landmarks.

In addition to the walk itself, there will be a variety of activities and entertainment available for participants and spectators. These will include live music, dance performances, and a health fair featuring information and resources on women’s health issues.

Whether you’re an experienced walker or just looking for a fun way to support a great cause, WAWI’s Fistula Charity Walks in Kampala City are an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of women and girls in Uganda and beyond. So mark your calendars, lace up your walking shoes, and join us on May 5th for a day of community, awareness, and action!
